Is QuoteUs free?
Yes, QuoteUs is free and has no ads. If we ever add paid extras in the future, everything that is free today will stay free, and you will never pay anything without separately choosing to do so in advance.
Who can see my quotes?
Only the members of the group a quote is saved in. QuoteUs has no public feed and no public profiles. Search, too, only works across the groups you are a member of. See What is QuoteUs? and Search and filtering.
Can anyone create a group?
Yes. With an account you can create as many groups as you like, for example for your student house, your friend group, your society or your family, and you can be in several groups at once. See Creating a group.
Can I credit a quote to someone else?
Yes, that is the whole idea behind QuoteUs. When saving a quote, you choose who said it (the author), so every quote is kept under the name of the person who said it. See Saving a quote.
Does everyone in my group need an account or the app?
No. You can also save quotes from someone who doesn't have the app yet by adding them to the group as a guest. If that person joins the group later, they can take over their guest profile and all quotes saved under their name. See Guests in a group and Joining a group.
Why doesn't QuoteUs use passwords?
With a passkey you sign in quickly and safely using Face ID or Touch ID, with no password that can be forgotten or leaked. On a device without a passkey, you can always fall back on a 6-digit login code sent by email. See Creating an account, Signing in and Passkeys and sessions.
Which devices does QuoteUs work on, and what is TestFlight?
QuoteUs is currently in beta for iPhone and iPad through TestFlight, Apple's official app for testing. Install TestFlight from the App Store first, then open the beta link to install QuoteUs. An Android app and a web version will follow later.
What does QuoteUs do with my data?
We only store what QuoteUs needs to work. We don't track you, don't use analytics or trackers, don't sell anything and don't train AI models on your quotes. Our servers are located in the European Union (Germany and the Netherlands). You can always request a copy of your data or delete your account. Appear in a group as a guest without an account?
