Not everyone has an account. With a guest you can still save quotes from that person. A guest has no role and does not count as a member, until the guest creates an account and joins.
Adding a guest
When you save a quote, you choose who said it under Who said it?. If you type the name of someone who isn't a member yet, you choose Add ‘name’ as a guest (or tap + Guest). That person is then added to the group as a guest.
Managing guests
Guests are listed among the members in Manage group. As an owner or administrator, you can tap a guest to change their name (Change name) or remove them (Remove guest). Note: removing a guest also deletes all quotes by that guest from the group.
A guest takes over their quotes
Does the guest join the group later? Then that person can take over the guest profile. All quotes saved under that name are then linked to the new account. This works in two ways:
- With a linked join code: tap the guest in the member list and choose Link a join code (any member of the group can create one). Whoever uses that code automatically takes over the guest profile.
- With a general join code: when joining the group, the new member can select their guest name under Take over an existing guest profile?.
Please note
- A guest name is unique within a group.
- When an account is deleted, the quotes that person said stay in the group. The author becomes the guest Deleted account. That guest can never be taken over or renamed.
