Deleting your account

What happens when you delete your account, and how to undo it within 7 days.

Last updated

You delete your account under Account → Privacy center, at Delete account. Tap Email me a code, enter the 6-digit code from your email (valid for 15 minutes) and confirm with Delete my account.

What happens

  • You are signed out everywhere.
  • Your account is permanently deleted after 7 days. Until then your memberships of your groups remain.
  • If you sign in within those 7 days, your account is not deleted.
  • After 7 days you leave all your groups. If you were the only owner of a group with other members, ownership passes to the longest-standing administrator (or otherwise the longest-standing member). If you were the last member, the group is deleted.
  • The quotes you saved stay in their group without your name. The text of quotes themselves is not changed.
  • Quotes where you are the author stay. Their author becomes the guest Deleted account.
  • Your comments, the photos and videos you added and the join codes you created are deleted.

Please note

If your account has a passkey and you signed in with a login code, you can't delete your account from that session. Sign in with a passkey or create one first; see Passkeys and sessions.
