Passkeys and sessions

Manage the passkeys on your account, and end sessions on devices you don't recognise.

Last updated

You manage your email address, your passkeys and your sessions under Account, then Sign-in details.

Passkeys

A passkey is how you prove who you are. Through iCloud Keychain, for example, a passkey works across your Apple devices, and you can also add several passkeys.

  • Adding: tap Add a passkey.
  • Removing: swipe left on the passkey, tap Remove and confirm with Remove passkey.

Sessions

Sessions are the devices you are signed in on. Do you see a device you don't recognise? Swipe left on that session, tap End and confirm with End session. The device is signed out straight away.

A session expires automatically after 90 days without use (with a passkey) or after 30 days without use (with a login code).

Changing your email address

Under Sign-in details, tap your email address to enter a new one. We send a 6-digit code to the new address (valid for 15 minutes). Your email address changes once you enter that code.

Please note

If your account has a passkey and you signed in on this device with a login code, you see Sign in with a passkey to do this and can't change your email address, remove passkeys or end other sessions. Tap Create a passkey to add a passkey on this device; after that you can manage everything again.
