Depending on what you are building, there are several ways to authenticate with the QuoteUs API. Together with you, we choose the option that fits your project best.
Ways to connect
- API token (Bearer token): suited for a fixed integration, such as a bot (for example for Discord), a script or a display screen in your house or club. A token only receives the permissions your integration needs.
- OAuth2 and OpenID Connect (OIDC): suited for websites or apps where members sign in with their own QuoteUs account. The user grants permission, and your application only accesses what that member is allowed to see.
- Tailored setup in consultation: have a different integration in mind? Let us know and we will look at what works best technically and securely.
Permissions and privacy
Every integration follows the same rules as the app:
- An integration can only access groups and quotes for which access has been explicitly granted.
- Group roles and permissions work the same way as in the app.
- Data from the API may only be used for the agreed purpose within your group, never for advertising, resale or training AI models.
